America just got rooked by both parties. There will be no debt reduction and the can is kicked down the road again for my kids to pay or until it all comes crashing down like Greece, whichever comes first.
So much for all of that campaign talk about a "balanced approach" to debt reduction- how about "no approach?"
The rich get soaked a little more, but that isn't even close to the heart of my concern. That was just "boob bait for Bubba's" and assorted other morons who fell for the idea that raising taxes on 1% of the population by 4% would make a difference in reducing the deficit. The problem is the debt, and the GOP just made it clear that they have no backbone.
For over a decade, the GOP has too often picked the wrong battles to fight and too frequently retreated from the right ones.
I've been a registered Republican since April of 1988, a month after I turned 18. But no more. I will switching my registration to independent this week.

Now, am I right that this exercise was called an emergency deficit reduction bill? I would sure hate to see the results of a regular deficit reduction bill. Don't think that I can afford it.
