Rand Paul: We Should Let Dems Raise Taxes And Then Let Them Own It.
"Why don't we let the Democrats pass whatever they want? If they are the party of higher taxes, all the Republicans vote present and let the Democrats raise taxes as high as they want to raise them, let Democrats in the Senate raise taxes, let the president sign it and then make them own the tax increase. And when the economy stalls, when the economy sputters, when people lose their jobs, they know which party to blame, the party of high taxes. "
I agree with Paul on this. Ann Coulter has made a similar suggestion. The simple fact is that Obama's tax increase will only pay for about 8 days of running the country.
It will have little or no effect on the deficit, and will likely make the economy worse.
Obama campaigned on tax increases "on the rich" as the centerpiece of his economic platform, somehow convincing voters that if "rich" people pay more money that will somehow create more jobs and/or put more money in the pockets of "not rich" people- a sort of economic osmosis.
Further, Obama touted this as a responsible deficit reduction plan.
So let him have his tax increase and let him own it as Paul suggests. It may not be a disaster, but it sure isn't going to make things any better.
