Reality check: It's going to be Romney and he's going to pick Mitch Daniels as his VP...or maybe Paul Ryan.

I have to confess that I would love to see Chris Christie debate Joe Biden. That would be an epic street fight between tough guys. I don't like Biden, but he IS a scrapper. But I don't think Christie wants the job.

I tend to agree with your thoughts that if Romney is the presidential candidate, we need a street brawler for VP. Daniels and Ryan are good men, but will double down on temperament with Romney. The VP needs to bring some street smarts and willingness to tangle with the Dems. This is what made Bush a better Preident, having Cheney as VP. Cheney was a fighter. You did not have to like him, but he brought some toughness and an edge to the WH. Something like Rahm for Obama.

"I don't like Biden, but he IS a scrapper."
But he's proven himself a dunce. Anyone nominated by the Republicans for VP should be able to expose him for all to see.
The question is whether Biden will be kicked off the ticket for someone more useful to Dear Leader's purposes.

"..I don't think Christie wants the job." by Spag. Not according to a Politico article in December 2011.

Mitch is out of the picture. His wife strayed and from what I heard when she ended her relationship (or was it marriage) with the second guy and returned to Mitch, got ugly. The Dems would have some fun with this one.
I like Christie and his bluntness. I also like Ryan for his intelligence. However, the average mathematically challenged American is too stupid to understand Ryan's accountant debt/budget presentations.
I'd go with the fat guy.

Who would best counter Romney's ObamaCare weakness? And who would best help him pickup those most disaffected by his campaign thus far? Not Christie. Possibly Ryan. Marco Rubio seems okay.
Could Rep. West's being Miller like drawn out of his district be preparation for such a pick? I don't know the advantages for the local conservatives in such a redrawing, but the loss of one district could easily mean a gain of two others. Additionally, West does not appear to be complaining over the matter.

Republican's primarily already have the South in their back pocket. Need Wisconsin, thus Paul Ryan should be up for consideration. Would be nice to have New Jersey, but that would be difficult even with Chris as the VP candidate. Rubio would help with the Hispanic vote and place Florida safely in Republican hands.
I'd still go with Christie. Romney will need a running mate to help him get a pair.

Rubio isn't going to do it. He knows he doesn't have enough tenure yet. He is the future, but not right now.

Rubio also knows that he will have to defend against the "natural birth" attacks, and he is not ready to do that.
