Cale Yarborough was one of the toughest men ever to drive a race car, and Darrell Waltrip has been of the greatest ambassadors for the sport behind the wheel and in the television booth. Congratulations to both on being inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame last night.
I remember seeing Cale and Bobby Allison (no slouch in the toughness department) duke it out in the infield after the Daytona 50o crash between Cale and Donnie Allison.
Makes some of the modern day "tough guys", like Kyle and Kurt Busch, look like spoiled little bratty wimps in comparison.

I also remember well the "Anyone But Waltrip" sentiment among the fans back in the 80s.
Lots of great characters came out of those heritage days of NASCAR.
